NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of ethanol producers climbed Friday after a government report showed farmers will plant the largest corn crop in 60 years, but lost some gains as investors questioned if the crop will be large enough.
Farmers will plant 90.5 million acres of corn this year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported, up from 78.3 million last year and ahead of the department's 87 million acre estimate. Surging ethanol demand was one of the reasons for the increase.
Citigroup analyst David Driscoll said the new planting will drive corn prices lower to about $3 per bushel by the end of 2007 from the current $4. He maintained a ``Buy'' rating on Archer Daniels Midland, the largest U.S. ethanol producer, and said lower corn prices will make ethanol production more profitable

Instead of showing the
British soldiers , the Iranian TV should say Manchester united sucks in soccer & that will start the WAR .
This is sad but true that I don't like to see any human suffering or martial destruction but I want to see OIL at 120.00 a Barrel since I
have invested heavily in Alternative energy which moves up as the price of OIL is going up . To make it short and brief the entire OIL market and the GAS
prices are a scam , the oil companies had bought the oil 3 month ago cheap so the should not be any increase on price of GAS in USA , I know it because read
their purchase and order prices , hopefully we will do what brezil do ( run 7 out of 8 cars on sugar canes * ethanol is the future * I would like to thank George for not taking the 50 cents per Gallon tariff on imported ethanol from Brazil and support the ethanol makers in this country and would like to thank George again for sticking
the tax on imported papers from CHINA & looking forward to see they honorable judges to stick any imports from China with a Tariff or some kinds of Taxes to get the manufacturers' of goods from the flood of cheap products from China . This raps the commentary for this week .

The Oil Reserve 8 Times Bigger
than Saudi Arabia's
All of a sudden, the oil sands in Alberta, Canada have become a veritable “black gold” mine. And Big Oil’s heavy hitters are wishing they acted sooner…
Just three years ago, when the average price of crude was $29.63 a barrel, producers didn’t find the profits to be worth the costs of processing the oil sands
According to news from the Oil Sands Discovery Centre in Alberta, it now costs an average of just $13.21 to process each of the 2.5 trillion barrels of oil embedded in the sands – a reserve 8 times bigger than Saudi Arabia’s… containing more oil than all OPEC nations combined.
Now, Big Oil companies that didn’t get in early can only sit by and watch as “savvy oil” laughs all the way to the bank. With crude selling for $60-plus, revenues at Albert’s premier oil sands producers are rocketing skyward.

Ethanol stocks made a very impressive run today as crude oil prices dramatically spiked. Prices hit $66 a barrel as tension in Iran escalated. As a result, Verasun(
VSE) shares shot up 1.10(5.56%) to $20.90. Pacific Ethanol(
PEIX) shares rose 0.82(5.08%) to $16.97. Even shares of GS CleanTech Corporation(
GSCT.ob) climbed up .0090(31.03%) to $0.0380. All three of these companies traded double their average volume. As gratifying as today may have been,
tomorrow may even be better. The highly anticipated USDA Planting Report is to be released and there is speculation that U.S. farmers will shift a record number of acres to produce more grain for ethanol. If this speculation is true and crude oil prices continue to rise, Ethanol stocks and shareholders will be in their utopia.

Elizabeth Edwards speaks to the City Club of Cleveland Monday
CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) -- In her first public speech since announcing last Thursday that her breast cancer had returned, Elizabeth Edwards appealed Monday for more federal funding for health research of all kinds, including stem-cell research.
"I think that we're foolhardy to not be engaging in federal funding of stem-cell research in the most aggressive way we possibly can," the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards of North Carolina told a luncheon meeting of supporters at the City Club of Cleveland.

3/26/07 - NEW ORLEANS) - Scientists have announced that they have been able to use stem cells to treat patients with heart failure, some of the first evidence that the much-hyped therapy could have significant clinical benefits.
In two studies reported at the American College of Cardiology conference, scientists used adult stem cells -- not the more controversial embryonic stem cells -- to treat patients and saw marked improvement in their health. Experts note these early studies need to be replicated in larger groups to confirm the results

PHILADELPHIA, March 8 /PRNewswire/ — Stem cell therapy sales in the United States are projected to reach more than $700 million by 2010 and $8.5 billion by 2016, according to Robin R. Young, a medical industry analyst ranked as one of The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” and among Institutional Investor’s top-10.
The projections are based on Young’s analysis of adult and human embryonic stem cell products currently sold or in development for the orthopedics, cardiovascular, anti-inflammatory, diabetes, nerve repair and dental markets. A detailed breakdown of the markets and profiles of 106 companies will comprise the Stem Cell Analysis and Market Forecasts 2006-2016, which will be available for purchase March 22 for $2,995.
“By 2016, physicians will use stem cells therapeutically in as many as 1.97 million procedures a year for an aggregate market penetration of 5.6 percent,” Young said. “The orthopedics industry saw the first adoption rates of stem cell therapies increase sharply over the past 12 months. With orthopedics companies paving the way with approved products, other businesses are progressing rapidly with the development of therapies for a wide range of indications. The market is poised to take off sharply.”

The CNBC show Fast Money just ended, and all five of the "Fast Money Five" agreed Geron was a Buy. Tonight was a special on small cap stocks, and each of the Five picked there favorite small cap. Guy Adami picked GERN and the other four agreed with him that it was a Buy. Then for the entire hour, each of their small cap picks, including GERN, ran in the ticker below the program, with the word Buy next to it. Needless to say that was my favorite "Fast Money" episode ever!
